Searching for information
When using the Knowledgebase, a good way to start is by searching for key words. Simply click on the search tab and enter key words. The Knowledgebase will then display the relevant pages containing that word or phrase.
Supported Operators
The Search facility supports several text operators which may be used to refine your individual query. The search automatically joins words entered with the AND operator. This means that if I search on shadow act, the KnowledgeBase will list all files that contain both shadow and act. The other logical operators you may use are OR and NOT. The KnowledgeBase search is not case sensitive.
If I were to search on shadow NOT act, the KnowledgeBase would return all files that contained the word shadow but not the word act. Logically, if I were to search shadow OR act, the KnowledgeBase would return all files that contained either shadow or act.
Hint... You may use the characters &, |, ! in place of the operators AND, OR, NOT, respectively.
Another operator which may prove useful to your search is NEAR. Basically, this will return files which have words which are within 50 words of each other. It is used as follows: shadow NEAR act.
Searching for an exact phrase
To search for a phrase, enter the phrase within double quotation marks, for example "Shadow ACT". This will search on the exact content between the quotes.
To actually search for a phrase which is within quotes you should surround the phrase with single quotes in the query box, as illustrated below.
"Search for a 'phrase in quotes' in a file"
Once you have selected a page from the search results to view, you may click on the 'locate' icon to take you to the area of the tree where that page is located. This is also useful if you find an item in your search results and wish to find other related items from the tree.
