Paste (shortcut Ctl V)

The paste command will insert the contents of the clipboard from one cell (or a range of cells) to another.

It is important to note that figures moved using this method will have not only the integers and wording copies form the cell, but also any allied sources, note, queries and responses.

Items may only be pasted into data entry ranges and so to allow the full range of cells copied to be pasted, the software will automatically insert extra rows as required.

No link is created between the original cell(s) copied and that/those pasted into i.e. if the original cell is altered, this will not subsequently alter the cell pasted into.

Paste Special

The paste function above pastes all information from one cell / a range of cells into another. It carries with it not only the value, but any associated sources notes etc.

Paste special allows the user to select the attributes of the cell pasted. Options include:

All - all attributes of the cell (below) will be pasted into the revised cell. This has the same effect as Paste.

Values - the actual numeric value appearing within the cell, rather then the formula.

Format - the format of the cell

Source - the source reference attached to the cell

Notes - the note attached to the cell

Query - the query attached to the cell.

Note: despite the name of the schedule, it is important to note that no link is created between the original cell(s) coped and that/those pasted into i.e. if the original cell is altered, this will not subsequently alter the cell pasted into.

Paste link

Paste link allows a user to link between two cells - one in a computation file, the other in an excel spreadsheet.

To ensure the correct attributes of the excel spreadsheet are copied, the paste link must refer into a file and range name within excel.

The important distinguishing feature of paste link is that a relationship is set up between the two cells such that if the copies cell is later altered, a similar alteration is reflected in the pasted cell. Hence if the excel file is updated, this flows through to the relevant schedule.

To create a paste special link the user should:
