Style Tree
The Style tree displays all available styles in a tree structure. Items inherit the style of those items above them in their branch. Items lower down the branch can then add to or alter the inherited style.
- Navigation
- You can select items in the tree by clicking or via the following keys:
- Move up/down: CURSOR UP/DOWN keys.
- Jump up/down: PAGE UP/DOWN keys.
- Move to top/bottom: HOME/END keys.
- You can expand/collapse the branches by clicking on the
Plus or
Minus buttons, or by highlighting the style and pressing the RIGHT/LEFT CURSOR keys.
- Preview Style
- The currently selected style is displayed in the Formatting tabs.
- You can preview the style by selecting each tab and viewing the Preview pane.
The Font tab provides additional formatting information via the style description displayed below the Effects frame. This names the inherited style and then lists additional styles with a '+' and altered styles with a '-' character.
- Alter Tree
- The location of each item in the tree determines the styles that it inherits from items higher up the tree.
- Move: You can move an item up/down the tree by highlighting it and clicking on the
Up/Down button.
- New: You can add new branches/items by selecting an item and clicking the New button.
- Delete: You can delete an item (or branch), by selecting it and clicking the Delete button.
- Rename: You can rename an item by highlighting it and then clicking it, or right-clicking and selecting Rename from the menu, or pressing the F2 key.
Note that renaming a style item means that it will no longer be used to control the report text that it was previously associated with.
- Set as Default: You can set a style as the default option by right-clicking and selecting Set as Default from the menu.
- Revert to Parent Style: You can quickly change the style of the highlighted item to match that of its parent item by right-clicking and selecting Revert to Parent Style.
- Revert to Template: You can cancel any formatting changes by right-clicking and selecting Revert to Template.
