The toolbar (or icon bar or button bar) is displayed across the screen and is situated below the menu bar. The buttons may be used as shortcuts to using the menu bar or keyboard to perform certain functions. When using the software, move the mouse pointer over an icon to view a brief description of it.
The toolbar buttons
The toolbar is divided into various icon groupings, for example, formatting, standard, data entry, etc. Toolbar customisationThe icons displayed within the toolbar can be customised by right-clicking in the toolbar area and then selecting/deselecting the toolbar components. Ticked toolbars will be displayed. To add or remove a toolbar, select the toolbar from the menu.
Each tool bar can be separately moved and docked as desired. A bar separates each toolbar - hovering your mouse over this bar displays an arrow icon and pressing the left mouse key and dragging allows the toolbar to be moved and placed anywhere on the screen.
It is also possible to access the Navigator,
Task pane and help system when right-clicking in this way.
The Currencies bar can be switched on/off by right-clicking in either the toolbar or status bar. As with the other screen components, these boxes are dockable and can be moved about the screen. The default setting is for these boxes not to appear on screen, however, once they are enabled they will automatically appear wherever they are docked until they are manually disabled.
The default setting is for the file to be expressed in £- pound sterling, however, the user can alter the currency set at a File, Sheet, Cell or cell range level. The option No Currency in the right-hand drop-down menu will clear the currency set at that level. A prompt will appear asking the user to confirm whether they wish to change the currency or not; this prompt can be disabled for subsequent changes in currency settings.
The Currencies bar removes the requirement to use a working paper to set up the exchange rates, which is the case if the Format, Currency, Exchange rate menu bar options are used.
Again, exchange rates can be added at a File, Sheet, Cell or cell range level using the Exchange Rate option in the right-hand drop-down menu. This in turn produces the following dialog, which is equivalent to entering the exchange rate formula, £@$1.5 to convert at the rate of $1.5 to a £ for example. Once the exchange rate has been set up, this will be stored as part of the Currencies bar drop-down menu and can be applied where necessary. Exchange rates can be removed from the File, Sheet, Cell or cell range level using the No Exchange Rate control.
Note: where existing files have been set up using exchange rates set at a working paper level, these will be automatically added to the drop-down listing of exchange rates available for the computation. Although exchange rates can still be set up at a working paper level, they will only be added to the drop-down listing once they have been applied. We recommend you use the Add new Exchange Range dialog for all exchange rate conversions.
When the Currencies bar contains one or more exchange rates, an additional option will appear on the dropdown entitled Manage Exchange Rates... Selecting this option will bring up a dialog box which allows you to delete rates or to amend rates. The software will display a warning if you are deleting or amending a rate which is currently in use somewhere in the current file, however it will let you proceed with the deletion if you confirm that you wish to.

The Reviewing bar enables you to locate and return to specific cells quickly and easily depending on if the cells contain bookmarks, queries, unanswered queries, notes, errors, red rows, reminders, consequent errors, what-if scenarios, changed cells, snapshot changes, tracked changes, changed system formulae, related documents, XBRL tags.
1 Displays a dialog box which allows you to either view or edit the Source, Note, Query, Query response, Reminder for next period and Tag of the current cell.
2 Sets a bookmark in the current highlighted cell. This is indicated on the top-right of the cell as a diamond. Alternatively, to set a bookmark on a cell, select the cell and press the ALT and F8 keys together. Bookmarks may be set for individual cells to enable you to locate and return to specific cells quickly and easily. For example this may be used to move quickly between cells on different schedules.
3 Cycles back to the cell closest to your current location.
4 Displays a list of all the cells in the layer. Clicking on a cell moves you to that cell. The icon changes to reflect the currently selected layer.
5 Cycles forward to the next cell closest to you current location.
6 Displays a list of the layers ( bookmarks, queries, unanswered queries, notes, errors, red rows, reminders, consequent errors, what if scenarios, changed cells ) in the current file. Clicking on a layer enables navigation buttons for that layer. Changed cells will only be listed as a layer if the Software is in review mode.
7 Displays a list of cells linked to the current cell. Double Clicking on a cell in the list moves the focus to that cell.
The Open Windows bar can only be displayed when there are files open in the software. The open windows toolbar displays links to open files. Clicking on a file name in the open windows bar will move you to that file.

1 Export one or more schedules in to a Taxpack file. Schedules can be exported to only one Taxpack at a time.
2 Import data from a Taxpack file that was exported earlier. If the data imported from the Taxpack differs from the data currently in the schedules, the user can choose which values to keep.
3 Open a Taxpack file in Excel.
4 Send a Taxpack file via email
5 List the Taxpacks that are currently exported.
6 Delete a Taxpack file, and allow the schedules which were in that were in Taxpack to be exported again.
The Group bar is only available if the Group module has been activated. Commands in the File, Link menu are used to control which companies are included in the group module. The Group bar allows these options, which are frequently used in Group Module, to be accessed more easily.
The first button on the Group bar is Link Member which allows a company to be added to the group.

The second button on the Group bar is Link Recreate. Where a file has been carried forward with a different file name, the 'root' file name (i.e. the file name excluding the last two digits) should be adjusted manually. Link Recreate will then attach the computation to the group relief file.

The third button on the Group bar is Update Companies. This loads each computation that requires an update and the revised figures are written into them. The software then saves each file after updating and closes those which were not already loaded when the update was started.
