Edit Value Column Dialog

This dialog enables you to create or change value columns in your report smart table element and select a period for the data displayed. It is accessed from within the smart table by selecting the Insert smart tag above the table and selecting Insert value column, or from the Edit column smart tag for an existing value column.

When you select the Insert smart tag you may see more than one Insert value column option in the list. Click on each option to view a vertical cursor showing you where in your report the column will be placed.

In addition to the on-screen advice, you should note the following:

Column Contents Tab
Name: Enter an appropriate name for your column.

The name will be referred to when totalling items in your report so it is important to replace the default name with a more meaningful one. The field will not accept spaces.

Tables within the UK/ROI GAAP and UK IFRS templates, which include Total columns, contain pre-defined column names. If you wish to change the default column name, ensure you also update the Column values via the Edit Calculation Column dialog, otherwise the Total column will display an Error in Expression message.

Condition: Click the ellipsis button to apply a true or false condition via the Edit Expression dialog. If the condition is 'true', the Display setting is checked to see if the column should be displayed. If the condition is 'false', the Display setting is not checked, and the column is hidden from the final output.

In Design mode, non-printing columns are greyed out.

Display: Select an option from the drop-down list:
Column Format: Select the Use 2 column layout: check box to add a second column to enhance data presentation. Click the ellipsis button to enter a column heading or paragraph and add or configure data via the toolbar options on the Edit Text dialog.

When working with the following smart tables, Tangible fixed assets, Intangible Fixed Assets, Investments, Provisions, and Reserves, ensure any column name change is performed via the Edit Text dialog rather than the Name field else the Total column will generate an Error in Expression message.

Period tab: Select to present data for the Entire period or a specified Reporting period.
Accounts tab: Filter the accounts that appear in a column using the Add and Remove buttons.

All filters work on a cross section basis, where the only values included in a cell are those that fall within the row and the column filters.

Categories tab: Filter the categories that appear in a column using the Add and Remove buttons.
Reported As Entities tab: Filter the entities that appear in a column using the Add and Remove buttons.
Financial Period Data tab: Filter the financial period data that appears in a column using the Add and Remove buttons.
Expressions tab: Use the Add and Edit buttons to include any expressions in the column.
Column Options Tab
Column width: Click the ellipsis button to specify the column width in mm via the Edit Expression dialog.
Column style: Specify a style from the drop-down list.
Header style: Specify a style from the drop-down list.
