Element Properties Dialog

This dialog enables you to alter a number of properties that determines what is displayed in a report and how it can be referenced elsewhere in the report. It is accessed by right-clicking an open report and selecting Properties from the menu.

The majority of report editing, such as adding notes and tables, is achieved via the Report pane.

The dialog provides the following tabs:

Options Tab
ID: This is the unique identifier for the report element, that is commonly used for note cross-references. Care should be taken when modifying this field.
Name: This is the name used when referencing the element in the Report Map tab, in a table of contents and can be referenced to display anywhere in the report content. Alternative name in contents and report map: A different name can be specified if desired.
Display Setting: The current display setting for the element. Select by right-clicking on an element on the Report Structure tab and selecting one of the following options:
  • Always: Element contents are always displayed in the report regardless of the element's display condition.
  • Never: Element contents are never displayed in the report regardless of the element's display condition.
  • Conditional: Element contents are displayed according to the display condition setting. If the display condition is set to true, the element content is displayed; if the display condition is set to false, the element content is not displayed.
Display Condition: The display condition enables any data within the financial period to be displayed in the report under user specified circumstances, for example, that turnover is greater than a certain value. The condition becomes effective when the display setting is set to Conditional. Click the button to change the condition via the Edit Expression dialog. The condition must be always return a 'true' or 'false' result.
Check Boxes: Select a check box to apply the option to the element contents.
Preview Tab
This tab provides a preview of the currently selected element and any elements that branch from it.
XML Source Tab
This tab enables you to view and edit the XML definition for this element.
The following keyboard shortcuts can be used when working with this tab:
  • CTRL-F: Find.
  • CTRL-G: Go to line.
  • CTRL-H: Replace.
  • CTRL-R: Reformat.
  • CTRL-SHIFT-A or F4: Toggle format style.
  • CTRL-SHIFT-SPACE: Close tool tip.
  • F3: Find next.
  • F7: Insert expression via expression editor.
  • F8: Next error.
Variables Tab
This tab enables you to create, edit and delete variables for use in the Display Condition field on the Options tab and the XML Source tab. The variables enable you to link to data items, for example trial balance data, financial period data.
